NFL Futures | 3 Player Props to Take Now

Looking to place some high-value NFL prop bets this season? Consider the potential impact of De’Von Achane in the receiving game, Rome Odunze’s touchdown totals, and Jonathan Taylor’s rushing scores. Each of these players offers intriguing opportunities for bettors, with Achane potentially lighting up the scoreboard through the air, Odunze making a strong case for high touchdown numbers, and Taylor aiming to dominate the ground game. Dive into these bets to capitalize on their promising performances and the dynamics of their respective teams.

1. De’Von Achane | 5+ Receiving TDs (+600 on DraftKings)

De’Von Achane played in 11 regular season games during his rookie season, hauling in 27 receptions, including 3 TDs.  We’ve seen glimpses of Achane lined up as a WR in the pre-season and during training camp and the results have been promising.  The Dolphins top beat reporter, Travis Wingfield, had this to say about Achane after watching Miami’s training camp:

I am all aboard the Achane hype train.  The Dolphins offense is a top five offense in the NFL.  Mike McDaniel has repeatedly talked about Achane’s development, and more specifically, how he is going to be used in a variety of roles.  Raheem Mostert will get the lion’s share of touches from the RB position (if he stays healthy), but that doesn’t mean Achane won’t be on the field for much of the game, albeit lined up in different spots.

I’m not sure there is a great comparison to make for what Achane could do this season, but I think it could be a reversal of what we have seen with Deebo Samuel, and maybe even a notch higher.  A DraftKings Future Bet of +600 for 5 receiving TDs from one of the most explosive players in the league, coming into his sophomore season looking for an expanded role….I’ll buy it.

Analysis:

  • Pre-Season Hype: Achane’s role has been growing in the Dolphins’ offense, and his versatility as both a RB and WR is a huge plus. If he’s used similarly to Deebo Samuel, his receiving TD potential increases significantly.
  • Offensive Environment: The Dolphins’ offense is indeed high-powered under Mike McDaniel, which should create ample opportunities for Achane. His ability to line up as a WR and contribute in the passing game is a key factor here.
  • Risk Factors: The main risk is the competition for targets and touches. While Achane could be a significant part of the passing game, the presence of other weapons in Miami’s offense, like Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, might limit his opportunities.

Verdict: Given the promising reports and his role in a high-octane offense, +600 could offer good value, especially if he’s used in a versatile role like Samuel.

Next up: High-Value NFL Prop Bets (Rome Odunze)

2. Rome Odunze | 7+ Receiving TDs (+500 on DraftKings)

Rome Odunze is special.  I mean, just look at this chart, courtesy of Reception Perception.

The former Huskies star comes into the NFL with huge expectations.  He comes into an ideal offensive situation with a star rookie QB, with whom he has shown to have developed chemistry with during the offseason.  Caleb has continued to look Rome’s way during camp and in preseason games and the results have been great.

The biggest downside here is how many mouths the Chicago offense will be looking to feed.  But do we truly expect Keenan Allen to stay healthy all season long?  This is the NFL and that feat is extremely rare.  Allen has missed 31% of games over the last 2 seasons.  He’s 32 years old.  While not something to hope for, I just think it’s probable that at some point this year, he misses some time.  Even if he doesn’t, I’m not sure that him being on the field is a bad thing for Odunze.

I think Odunze has a chance to be a TD machine in this league.  I see a little Mike Evans in his game.  I’ve heard others compare him to Davante Adams.  At +500, I think 7+ TDs is a very realistic bet.

Analysis:

  • Rookie Potential: Odunze has high upside, and his chemistry with the rookie QB Caleb Williams could be a big factor. His talent and potential to be a top target are promising.
  • Competition for Targets: The potential issue here is the competition within the Bears’ offense. If Keenan Allen stays healthy, it could impact Odunze’s target share, but Allen’s history suggests he might miss games.
  • Comparison to Other WRs: Odunze’s style of play, with comparisons to Mike Evans and Davante Adams, suggests he has the potential to be a red-zone threat.

Verdict: If Odunze becomes a key red-zone target and Allen does miss games, +500 for 7+ TDs could be a solid bet.

Next up: High-Value NFL Prop Bets (Jonathan Taylor)

3. Jonathan Taylor | 13 Rushing TDs (+650 on DraftKings)

Jonathan Taylor is poised for a big year.  After holding out for nearly half the season in 2023, Taylor secured his new contract and put up nice numbers in the 10 games he played in.  If Taylor stays healthy for a full season, I could see him easily scoring 13 TDs on the ground.  The Colts have an excellent offensive line and Anthony Richardson could help fuel long runs for Taylor.

We have only seen 1 half’s worth of football from the Richardson/Taylor duo up to this point, so there is some unknown, but there are a few factors to consider.  The first is the fact that Taylor secured the bag last season, becoming the 3rd highest paid RB in the league.  The Colts clearly view him as a superstar, which he is.

The second factor is Richardson’s injury history.  While the Colts have emphasized that they won’t take away Richardson’s running ability, you have to wonder if Taylor will see more of the short yardage run attempts in an attempt to keep Richardson healthy for a full season.  This mentality would significantly boost Taylor’s TD potential.

Lastly, we all know that Richardson has shown accuracy/consistency issues when it comes to throwing the football.  In Richardson’s 1st NFL start, the Colts threw the ball 68% of the time.  In his final start of the season, they threw only 46% of the time.  Each start in between regressed towards the final start %.  If the Colts approach this season wisely, they will emphasize their rushing attack, which is the best tool in their toolbox.

We are 2 seasons removed from Taylor’s breakout 1,800 rushing yard/18 rushing TD season and I think he has a chance to come close to those numbers again this season.

Analysis:

  • Offensive Line and Team Role: Taylor’s success largely depends on his health and the Colts’ offensive line. With a top-tier O-line and potential emphasis on the running game due to Richardson’s inaccuracy, Taylor could have many opportunities.
  • Richardson’s Impact: If the Colts use Taylor heavily in short-yardage and goal-line situations, his TD count should benefit. The running game could be a major focus to keep Richardson healthy and effective.
  • Past Performance: Taylor’s previous high TD season (18 in 2021) supports the possibility of reaching or approaching 13 rushing TDs if he stays healthy and is used effectively.

Verdict: Given the favorable conditions for Taylor and his history of high TD production, +650 for 13 rushing TDs seems like a bet with a strong chance of hitting.

In conclusion, these high-value NFL prop bets offer exciting opportunities to capitalize on player potential and team dynamics. De’Von Achane could shine with multiple receiving touchdowns, Rome Odunze may become a key red-zone target, and Jonathan Taylor is poised for a significant rushing touchdown tally. By keeping an eye on player usage, injury updates, and offensive strategies, you can make informed decisions and enhance your betting strategy for the season ahead.
