The Angels have scored 26 runs in their last 3 games. Although Moniak is only responsible for 1 of those, he has been arguably the hottest Angels hitter since returning from the All-Star Break, hitting 7 singles in 14 ABs. The Angels have recently moved him to the 3rd spot in the lineup, and it’s working. Factor in that tonight’s game will be against the Yankees and RHP Luis Severino, and we could be in for a big night. Severino has a 7.38 ERA, jumping to 9.27 on the road and 12.12 during night games. Severino has struggled against LHBs this season and tends to struggle against the middle of the lineup (batters 3-6). This play’s outcome will depend on Severino’s FB and how often he throws it. On the season, he throws it 56% of the time when facing LHBs. If Moniak gets one to hit, I think he takes it out of the ballpark.
