DJ Moore (CHI) O3.5 Receptions (-120 DK)
Moore faces the Washington Commanders at Fedex Field on Thursday night. Moore has been inconsistent this year, which can be attributed to a dysfunctional offense. However, Justin Fields had his best game as a professional QB in a Week 4 loss against the Denver Broncos. This week, he should get an opportunity on the left side of the field, matching up primarily against Emmanuel Forbes, who has struggled this season. Here are the WR breakdowns from the left-side against the Commanders in Weeks 2-4.
Week 2: Marvin Mims – 2 catches, 113 yards, 1 TD
Week 3: Stefon Diggs – 8 catches, 111 yards
Week 4: DeVonte Smith – 7 catches, 78 yards
Moore is more similar to Diggs and Smith in playing style and will get far more reps than Marvin Mims, who still had a breakout game on just 2 catches. The Bears offense can get stale quickly, but they usually put together a few good drives each game and I think Moore will be the centerpiece of the offense this week. You can ladder this prop up to 8 catches, but taking the straight is worthy of a look.
Jahon Dotson (WSH) O3.5 Receptions (-102 FD)
Dotson has also had inconsistent game logs this year, which like DJ Moore, can likely be attributed to the Commanders offense being an inconsistent unit. This week he faces a Chicago Bears defense that has been bad this year, particularly in the secondary. A lot of this is tied to the coaching scheme (not using players properly based on skill set), but a lot of it comes from the lack of pass-rush that Bears defenders get on QBs. The Bears have the fewest sacks in the NFL through 4 weeks. Washington has been bad against the pass-rush this season, but I still doubt the Bears get a ton of pressure on Sam Howell during this Week 5 matchup. Chicago’s secondary is also beat-up, with CB Kyler Gordon being placed on IR, Jaylon Johnson and Eddie Jackson have been ruled out and Jaquan Brisker is questionable after getting injured in practice earlier this week. I like Jahon Dotson to get looks in this game. His lack of production hasn’t been due to a lack of targets, as Dotson has seen 4+ targets in each game, getting 9 targets in Week 4. This week he will likely face-off against rookie CB Terrell Smith. Dotson primarily lines up on the left-side of the field. These are the statistical breakdowns for WRs who have lined up on the left-side against the Bears
Week 1: R. Doubs – 4 catches, 26 yards, 2 TDs
Week 2: M. Evans – 6 catches, 171 yards, 1 TD
Week 3: R. Rice – 5 catches, 59 yards
Week 4: M. Mims – 2 catches, 47 yards
